Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas | Hotel Review

All I can say is, “Wow! What an experience!” My husband Paul and I enjoyed 8 amazing nights at Sandals Emerald Bay and fell in love with the resort, as well as the location. The crystal blue waters of the Bahamas mixed with the beautiful white sandy beaches, refreshing pools and never-ending frozen beverages can only lead to the vacation of a lifetime!

If you are looking for peace, beauty, sun, and fun – this resort will not disappoint. Our room was large, and all the rooms are ocean-facing. We started our mornings out with breakfast and coffee delivered straight to our room, which we enjoyed from our private balcony. Warm ocean breezes and the smell of azaleas greeted our senses each morning when we opened the slider door to this tropical world.

Sandals resorts offer complimentary a 2-tank scuba dive, daily. Paul and I took advantage of the complimentary dives as PADI certified divers and also were able to complete our Advanced Open Water Certification through Sandals Dive Shop while we were there. We did a morning dive each day with about 4-6 other divers.

If you love the game of golf, you will love this resort! They offer a daily round of golf on their gorgeous and challenging ocean-front golf course. A golf cart is not included in the greens fees but can be purchased for an additional cost. This 18-hole Greg Norman course is set against the ocean, and the pinnacle of the course at the edge of a peninsula overlooking the cliffs and crashing waves. Absolutely stunning.

While we were there, we also scheduled the popular 1-day excursion to “Swim with the Pigs and Iguana Island.” I’m here to tell you that I LOVED THE PIGS! (And the iguanas… sort of!) I’ve never seen a pig swim, but they definitely do! There were even some adorable piglets on the island to ooh-and-aah over. The charter boat also gave us a tour of the outer lying islands in The Exumas, and honestly, I have never seen water so encapsulatingly beautiful in my life. Lunch was not included in this excursion, but Sandals will pack a lunch for you if you request it.

Speaking of lunch, the food at Sandals Emerald Bay was fantastic! There are so many amazing restaurants to try. The concierge was able to arrange all our reservations for us when we arrived. We had one night of a little “restaurant hopping” and went to Soy for sushi appetizers, then Italian for dinner, and, of course, French for dessert. Once a week, the resort puts on a Chocolate Party – and OH MY, be prepared for that! If you are a chocolate lover, you will think you have died and gone straight to heaven!

Sandals Emerald Bay is an adult-only resort and would be the perfect location for a honeymoon, anniversary, or even a wedding – although children are only allowed on property for the limited time of the wedding ceremony and reception and not allowed anywhere else on the property. If you can afford yourself a Butler Suite, I would recommend that because why would having a butler not be better? This resort gets a rating of 5 of 5 in my book!
