Everything You Didn't Know About Staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

1. The cabins are perfect for families!
Just because you're staying at a campground that doesn't mean you have to rough it! Disney's newly renovated cabins opened in 2024, and we recently got to test them out with our family of 6 (4 adults, 2 kiddos).

They're designed with families in mind from the Pullman bed that folds down for extra sleeping space, to the bunk beds your kids will love, and even a step stool stocked under the sink so the little ones can wash up with ease! Each cabin has a full kitchen, stocked with everything you'll need, and a private deck, giving your family plenty of room to spread out!
2. A ranch adventure is right at your doorstep!
You don't have to leave the resort to feel like you've stepped into the Wild West. The Tri-Circle-D Ranch offers carriage rides, wagon rides, and even horseback rides—the perfect way to slow down and make magical memories away from the crowds. You can even just stop by and say hello to some of the horses if riding one isn't your cup of tea!
3. Enjoy endless activities for kids on-site
From the Chip 'n' Dale Campfire Sing-Along to panning for gold, archery lessons, outdoor movies under the stars, and more; there is no shortage of things to entertain between your park days. Make sure to ask for activity schedule when you check-in and take advantage of these fun opportunities to experience magic the old-fashioned way!
4. Take a ferry to Magic Kingdom!
Forget about the buses—one of the best perks of Fort Wilderness is the boat ride straight to Magic Kingdom. It's a peaceful way to start your park day, and might even catch the sunrise or sunset on the way.
5. Travel in style with a golf cart
One of my personal favorites at Fort Wilderness are the golf cart rentals. It makes getting around the resort grounds fun and easy. Just zip down to the marina, pool, playground, or simply cruise along the wooded paths. Rentals are super easy, and we can help you set those up before your arrival!
Bottom Line:
Fort Wilderness is more than just a place to sleep—it’s a destination in itself. Whether you’re relaxing in your cabin, touring the ranch, or roasting marshmallows with Chip 'n' Dale, this resort was made for families to connect, explore, and make memories.
We had so much fun exploring the parks this time around, and as always, and I can't wait to get back! You can follow me on Instagram @lorispoelstra to see all the tips and tricks from my latest trips.
