We’ve been posting an awfully lot of all-inclusive reviews in the past few weeks, and today we have another one for you! Our hope is that these posts inspire your future travel dreams. All-inclusives are a great getaway where any new health and safety protocols will not detract from your overall stay — and, they’re some of our favorite places to visit! In the past few years, Lori has been making her way around the world visiting the Secrets brand resorts and spas, and it has kept her busy! Check out her review of another great location: Secrets Vallarta Bay in Puerto Vallarta.

I simply love the brand! There are so many nice touches that make it feel like home: no wristbands, no dining reservations necessary, free (and good!) property-wide WiFi (including guest rooms), free calls to the US, consistency in restaurants, and it is adult-only. Once you start traveling with Secrets, you will feel at home at all of them. Only the location has changed!

We stayed at Secrets Vallarta before a cruise that sailed from Puerto Vallarta. It is a small resort connected to the NOW Amber Resort, a family-friendly property. The resort is a horseshoe shape and the rooms overlook the city or the ocean. The center area is separated by a living wall between NOW and Secrets. All the restaurants for Secrets guests are available through Sip, Savor, & See program which allows Secrets guests to easily go to both resorts for dining, bars, entertainment, and pools.

This resort is close to downtown Vallarta and only a short taxi ride away to any shopping or clubs that you would like to explore. Puerto Vallarta is not a place that is typically known for the clear blue ocean waters, but the waters are temperate and swimmable.

Our room was beautiful and overlooked the ocean so we were able to watch the sunset from our private balcony. If you are not familiar with Secrets, they also have “secret boxes” in the walls, where you can order room service and the staff will put your order in the box from the exterior of the room, and then you open your side from the interior of the room and enjoy. When you are done, you can put the dirty dishes back into the box and keep them away from you. No one comes to the door and knocks and disturbs you and you have total peace and privacy. I love that feature of Secrets.

One tip that you should know is that the Uber drivers are not allowed to pick up from the Puerto Vallarta airport. This can take 10-15 extra minutes of lugging your luggage across a footbridge to a, let’s say, “sketchy” part of Puerto Vallarta. You can use an Uber to drop off, but use the transportation offered by Secrets for the best way to get to the resort.

If you’re interested in a relaxing getaway at Secrets Vallarta Bay, or one of the other amazing Secrets properties, let us know! We love to send our clients to Secrets resorts and would be happy to put together a trip for you!
